<\/strong>Latest news 16th September 2025<\/h2><\/div>

Holders of ordinary passports of the Republic of Slovenia are exempt from the requirement to obtain a visa upon entry to the Republic of South Africa for periods not exceeding 90 days per visit.
The aforementioned visa exemption takes effect immediately.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Everything You Need to Know About Visas<\/h2><\/div>

For holiday purposes\u00a0ordinary passport holders of the Republic of Slovenia\u00a0are exempted from visas for period up to 90 days.\u00a0This visa exemption came into force with immediate effect, as from 16 September 2025<\/strong>.
\u00a0
It is important to note that in order to enter South Africa the passport must be valid for at least 30 days on leaving the RSA (\u00a72(3) Immigration Act, Act 13 of 2002) and should contain at least two unused pages (\u00a72(1)(d) Immigration Regulations of Immigration Act, Act 13 of 2002) for the endorsement at Passport control.\u00a0 A visitors permit will be endorsed into the passports at Passport Control at the South African Port of Entry<\/strong>.

A person travelling to South Africa should also be in possession of a valid return ticket, proof of accommodation and proof of financial means which shall be in the form of a recently bank certified statement, for the last three (3) months to be presented to Immigration at the Port of Entry in South Africa. \u00a0

For business purposes (referring to attending business\u00a0meetings and not montage work\u00a0or\u00a0any form employment) a person should be in possession of a confirmation from the South African host confirming the business travel.

Should the holiday stay be longer than 90 days in South Africa, a person may contact the nearest Visa Facilitation Centre in South Africa at least 60 days before your residence permit expires to enquire on the possibility of extending your visa. \u00a0(All information on where to apply for an extension in South Africa and the procedure how to follow you will find under:

Note<\/strong>: In line with the above a visitor\u2019s permit may be issued at a South African Port of Entry Passport Control to a Slovenian passport holder in respect of the following purposes (proof to be submitted at the Port of Entry Passport Control when not entering other than holiday):
\u00a0
i. holiday visits not exceeding 90 days
ii. business visits not exceeding 90 days (referring to meetings and not montage work and not any form employment)
iii. to attend conferences, seminars or sports events not exceeding 90 days
iv. to join fianc\u00e9\/ spouse not exceeding 90 days
v. as an accompanying spouse and\/or dependent children of a foreigner, who holds a valid visitor\u2019s permit, study permit, treaty permit, business permit, medical treatment permit, work permit, or exchange permit not exceeding 90 days
vi. studies\/training sessions not exceeding 90 days (confirmation from educational institution has to state that studies are less than 90 days and that study permit is not required)
(Foreign medical students who wish to engage in clinical traineeships (Famulatur) or medical electives (Tertial des praktischen Jahres) in the Republic of South Africa may only do so at academic hospitals in the country; consequently, the foreigner is registered as a student with the relevant South African university, which also confirms the foreign medical student\u2019s provisional acceptance (purpose and duration of the visit) in the form of a signed and dated letter on the university letterhead. The South African university would assist the foreign medical student with his or her regulatory registration with the \u2018The Health Professions Council of South Africa\u2019. In addition, in the case of a clinical traineeship \/ medical elective for a period not exceeding 90 days, the South African university shall advise the foreign medical student, whether he or she must apply for and be issued with a study visa at a South Africa mission abroad e.g. the Embassy in Vienna, before proceeding to the Republic South Africa. In the case of a clinical traineeship \/ medical elective for a period exceeding 90 days, the foreign medical student must apply for and be issued with a study visa at a South Africa mission abroad e.g. the Embassy in Vienna, before proceeding to the Republic South Africa.)
vii. medical treatment not exceeding 90 days
viii. academic sabbaticals not exceeding 90 days
ix. voluntary and charitable activities not exceeding 90 days (this is not applicable to practical training or internship)
x. research not exceeding 90 days (documentation must be available regarding the research and permission from South African organization\/host for research)

Please be advised that in accordance with current legislation, Immigration Act, Act 13 of 2001, should you travel to one of the neighbouring countries upon your return you will be allowed into the RSA on the valid holiday permit which was stamped in your passport.\u00a0 Should that permit have been expired you might be given 7 days in order to leave the RSA.\u00a0 As visa exempted person you are allowed to enter South Africa on multiple entries<\/strong>. \u00a0

Furthermore although South Africa is not a country with a compulsory vaccination requirement apart from coming from a yellow fever country, you are kindly requested contact your local tropical medical institute for more information.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0

What is required to obtain a visa?<\/h2><\/div>

To enter South Africa, your passport must be valid for at least 30 days beyond the date of departure from the Republic of South Africa and must contain at least two blank pages for entry stamps at border control. You must also have a valid return flight ticket, proof of accommodation, and proof of sufficient financial means in the form of a bank statement, certified by the bank, covering the last three (3) months, which must be presented to the immigration authorities at the point of entry into South Africa.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
